According to the Government of Saskatchewan, there exists 21.6 billion barrels of heavy oil-in-place in the west central region of the province, which represents great potential for future production. Much of this heavy oil is currently considered to be stranded oil, or oil that cannot be economically extracted through conventional primary production methods. Rallyemont’s objective from day one has been to acquire lands that contained vast amounts of the Province’s stranded heavy oil resource and unlock its value through the use of proven in-situ thermal EOR technologies. This intent is based on the belief that an increasing supply of heavy oil will be required to satisfy the world’s growing oil consumption as supplies of light oil dwindle. Therefore, it is inevitable that global oil prices remain buoyant to justify development of EOR technology that will allow for the economic recovery of heavy oil.
